Shelby American announces new upgrades for 2013 Shelby GT350
It's been a big year so far for Shelby American, the car company founded by the late great racing legend Carroll Shelby in the '60s. Following its founder's passing from undisclosed reasons earlier this year, the company participated in a series of ceremonies to celebrate his life. Even before this, however, the car company was making headlines for a previously planned 50th anniversary tour that is currently making stops around the country.
On July 5, Shelby American made another announcement that turned heads in the auto industry when it unveiled that it would be making a number of upgrades available for the 2013 Shelby GT350.
According to a report by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the 2013 models will be available with expanded color options such as Satin Black, Azure Blue Metallic on Performance White, and for the first time since 1970, Gloss White stripes. In addition, the cars will also incorporate new visual styling cues and optional performance upgrades, the report said.
In 2011, Shelby American offered its GT350 coupes in white with blue stripes, the signature design that was used to cloak the initial version of the car in 1965. In 2012, three more colors were made available to the public.
This year, however, buyers who chose to commemorate one of the titans of the American auto industry by adding a new ride to their stable will have some hard decisions to make. In addition to the past color offerings, the 2013 GT350 will be available in all of the standard colors Ford uses for the Mustang. This means that your new 2013 GT350 could be Candy Red Tint Coat Metallic, "Deep Impact" Blue Metallic or Sterling Gray Metallic, among others.
However, those who want to get their hands on one of these coveted models should act fast. Only 350 will be built, which means this new offering is sure to become a classic.
