Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a 51 year old married, union plumber that works in New York City. I grew up in the Bronx. We have a home in Salisbury Mills, N.Y., which is a small town 60 miles from New York City. We have 3 children, our oldest son is aged 30 & our daughter is 28 & another son aged 28. We have lived here since 1990 but the house has been in my family since 1967 as a summer home. We do not own new cars, only antiques.
I have been interested in the car hobby since I was 9 years old; my father let me help him work on the family car doing small, simple things like change a spark plug. My passion for cars just took off from there. When I was old enough to drive, I bought my first car from my older sister. My friends had cars & we would hang out & fix up our cars together on the weekends.
What Rides do you currently own?
We own a 1967 Mercury Cyclone that I purchased while I was still in High School for $300 in 1978. We also have an unrestored 1978 Dodge Diplomat Station Wagon with only 32,000 original miles that we bought in 2005 from an elderly woman who could no longer drive.
What do you like most about your Cool Rides?
Our ’67 Cyclone is quite a rare car, only 124 left as of 2004. (There were only 1,493, automatic 289 cu. in. made.) It was restored to original in 2003. It is also loaded with many factory options for the time period such as air conditioning, automatic rear deck lid release, power driver’s seat & power windows. I liked the style of the car, the smooth drive & it is always noticed wherever
we go. The ’78 Dodge Wagon is also a rare sight & in it’s original condition with such low mileage is also a crowd pleaser. There are not many station wagons on the road nowadays.
What is the best memory you have with your favorite ride?
I have many great memories with my Cyclone, it’s hard to choose just one. The best memory I have with my Cyclone is from 2004. My wife decided to give me a fantastic, surprise Father’s day gift taking me to Indianapolis Motor Speedway. She arranged, with the International Mercury Owners Association President, Jerry Robbin, for us to attend our club’s yearly Car Show which was at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with laps around the track, an awards dinner & very nice room for the weekend. She made a special, decorated ticket for the event & wrapped it in a small box as my Father’s Day gift. It was a great time driving out from New York & even more fun doing the laps on the historical Brickyard.
What was the first car you ever owned?
The first car I ever owned was a 4-door, 1965 Ford Fairlane. I bought the car from my sister when I was 15, parked it next to my house & had to wait until my 16th birthday before I was able to drive it. That was the longest year of my life!
What is/was the BEST car ever made?
I think the best car ever made was the Tucker because they were made so very well that they had to put him out of business.
What is/was the WORST car ever made?
I think the worst car ever made was the American Motors Pacer. It was terribly designed, looking like a spaceship & very ugly.
How did you first hear about the Cool Rides Online website?
I first saw the Cool Rides online website advertised on the side of our Facebook page, read the small caption after which I clicked the “Like” button & have been visiting the site ever since.
Is there anything cheap generic cialis else you’d like the Cool Rides Online members to know about you?
During the Spring/Summer I enjoy going to car shows on the weekends. I have done so many cool things with my Cyclone that we had a sign made just for the car shows stating all the adventures we have been on in the passed years. We always take the Cyclone on vacations whenever we go. We have been to Tennessee, Texas, Indianapolis & some shorter mini-vacations in Pennsylvania & upstate New York near the Canadian border. The Cyclone and I were also hired for the taping of the movie, “Taking Woodstock”, which was a very interesting 3 weeks in 2008. I drove the car & we were in many different scenes of the movie. We also did a still photo shoot for an article in “Hemming’s Classic Car Magazine” with Mark McCourt.
