For the Week of 2/20/12

1996 Chevy Cavalier

1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself (2 or 3 sentences).

I am just your average car person out there. I love going to shows and seeing awesome rides. From classic to muscle to imports and tuners, I love them all. Without cars or being able to work on them, I have no clue where I would be at these days.  Continue reading →

Anyone who saw the last Fast and Furious film, Fast Five, knows that they left the ending wide open for a new installment. With a movie franchise bringing in the money that all 5 films have captured over the course of a decade now, the producers and writers have no reason to stop what they do best. Dwayne Johnson recently confirmed in a MTV interview that a sixth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise will be underway starting May of this year.

Lawnmower Storage Checklist

Properly Store your lawnmower in 9 easy steps

Posted on by Marcel Manzano

1 – Remove and sharpen blade. First disconnect sparkplug wire to ensure engine does not start up. Tip mower over toward the side that has the oil opening. Remove blade. When sharpening remove equal amounts of metal from each side of blade. Use a blade balance to ensure that blade is in balance after sharpening. An out of balance blade cuts poorly and can damage the engine. Always replace a cracked blade.

How To Paint Traditional Hot Rod Flames

Posted on by Shawn Morgan

Hotrod FlamesAs with anything else, there are many different ways to do a custom flame paint job. In this article, we will be working with a BC/CC (base coat/clear coat) system and will be burying the flames under the clear coat. The colors used will be Bright White, Chrome Yellow, Tangerine Pearl metallic, along with a Vibrant Blue enamel for the pin striping. In this case we will be starting with a car that has already had the main BC color spayed and has dried overnight.. There is usually a 24 hour window to from the time the BC is laid down until the CC must be laid down.

Car of the Week: 1912 Oldsmobile Limited five-passenger touring

Posted on by PeteRizzo

1912 Oldsmobile

I’ll admit, I was feeling a bit tired of this whole retro thing until I watched Boardwalk Empire, the hit HBO series starring Steve Buscemi. Now, I’ve always been a fan of mob movies, in particular “Goodfellas” and “The Godfather” (I’m partial to the first one, thanks for asking), but this series really got me thinking about antique cars in a new light. After all, they pale in comparison to the luxury amenities and performance upgrades of even an old Geo.

Jon “Rooster” Lewman

Cool Rides Online Sponsors USLMRA Racer

Posted on by Jon Lewman

Jon Rooster LewmanI was born to an auto mechanic who spent a good portion of his life running around this great country racing midgets of one type or another. Of course the minute we were old enough Dad stuffed our butts into a quarter midget and we learned that a “circle” was more oval shaped than we thought and that a “Line” was rarely straight? The “blocks” we played with as toddlers were made by Briggs rather than Mattel, when other kids had plastic hammers and wrenches we had Snap-On! To say I was born into racing would be like saying a preacher was born to chat!  Racing was bred into me before there even was a “me”.  It is what I was put on Earth to do!

“1954 ZR1″ turns heads through combo of new and old Vettes

Posted on by PeteRizzo

1954_Corvette ZR1

While today the Chevrolet Corvette is well-regarded classic of the car industry – as much a staple as say Bruce Springsteen is to music fans – 1954 wasn’t exactly a banner year for the model (think “Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.”, when the band was still getting the kinks out and establishing its sound).

Cat’s Roar Magnum

Posted on by Marcel Manzano

Cats Roar MagnumThis is The Cats Roar Magnum, a 2011 SEMA bound car built in support of Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, FL http://bigcatrescue.com/ The Art work (By Mike Lavallee of Overhauling fame) is 18 layers of HOK Shimrin paints with the last half almost entirely hand painted airbrushing or handbrushing. 6 layers of Clear tops it off and keeps it looking like art under glass. The Orange in the nose is representative of the sunrise in Africa with the Fire, Grunge, Cracking, and Lighting calling attention to the strife and turmoil plaguing Africa and the natural dangers faced by African wildlife. The colors fade through sunset and into the deepest of nights as you reach the back of the car. The Leopards and Lions are both endangered African Cats and meant to bring attention to both Africa’s wildlife and the plight of Big Cats around the world. Every view the car receives brings attention to the organizations supporting these beautiful animals, Our Fantastic sponsors and Big Cat Rescue the premier Big Cat sanctuary in the country.
